With the main premise behind BIM being the “Sharing and transfer of information“, at some stage you will mostly likely need to export your data to be used in another software package. And for that, IFC has become the industry “default” file format.
IFC allows various objects to be exported, and maintain most of the Attributes (MetaData). We say “most”, as 12d Model is one of a very few packages that can utilise Segment and Vertex Attributes. Which means, when exporting your data to IFC, you will only be able to export String Attributes.
NOTE: The lack of Segment/Vertex Attributes is a limitation of the IFC Format.
Also, Super Alignment and Tin can only be exported as IFC4x1 or later.
NOTE: IFC2x3 and IFC4 do not support Super Alignment and Tin.
