12d Model and RAMS

Overview

Most people create RAMS loader files from the (RAMS) spreadsheet. 12d Model will create the RAMS loader files from attributes on the as-built entities. Though creating the RAMS loader files is the last step and is the easy part.  Getting the necessary attributes onto the entitles is where the effort lies.

Below is general information on how to get the attributes onto the strings, and how to validate the attributes before creating the loader files.

Attributes are assigned to the as-built entities in 12d Model in 5 ways:
1. Attributes collected by the Surveyor in the field.
example; The surveyor takes a shot on the end of a culvert, codes the shot, then enters an attribute to say what type of culvert it is…concrete or corrugated steel.

2. Attributes assigned to the entities based on the Code, using a Map File.
example; The Survey code for a culvert is DR. The map file assigns an attribute to every entity with the code of DR

3. Attributes assigned to the entities from Project Attributes
example; attributes that need to be assigned to ALL entities can be entered as Project Attributes, and automatically copied down to the individual entities. Project Number is an example of this.

4. Attributes generated from the Surveyed data
For example: RAMS requires Lat/Long, but the Survey is picked up in Easting /Northing. The coordinates are used to create attributes with values of the Lat/Long.

5. Attributes assigned to the entities in the office.
example; the Culvert Number must be entered. This must be done by someone who knows this information.
